The Foundation for Rural Service awards grants annually through the Community Grant Program to nonprofit organizations, schools, community groups, municipalities, and other organizations doing good work in their communities. These grants provide the opportunity for NTCA members like Park Region to amplify the ways they support their communities and are designed to provide support to a variety of local efforts to build and sustain a high-quality life in rural America.

Restrict Unwanted Telephone Solicitations

In 2003, the Do-Not-Call Act was signed into law. This legislation allowed for the establishment and enforcement of a national Do-Not-Call Registry giving consumers a choice regarding telemarketing calls. If your number is listed on the registry, all commercial telemarketers, except for businesses with whom you have an existing relationship or certain non-profit and political organizations, are not allowed to call you.

Free TV Isn’t Always Free – The Risks of Streaming Boxes

Low-cost “fully loaded” Android streaming boxes like VSeebox, SuperBox, and similar off-brand devices can pose major cybersecurity, legal, and performance risks. Many are sold without proper Google certification. Some may come preloaded with malware that can infect your home network, steal sensitive information, slow down internet performance, and allow hackers to use your internet connection for malicious activity.

What is 811? 811 “Call Before You Dig” is the national call-before-you-dig phone number and was created to provide you with a nationwide, easily accessible resource when you are digging. Every dig requires a call. If you plan to do any digging, you must call 811 or visit your state 811 center’s website (in Minnesota, www.gopherstateonecall.org) to request location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags. Doing so will protect you from unintentionally digging into an underground utility line, expense of repair and possible injury.
